Friday Spotlight And Giveaway With... Chloe Jacobs

Today we're shining the spotlight on Chloe Jacobs, author of the Mylena Chronicles!

Chloe Jacobs is a native of nowhere and everywhere, having jumped around to practically every Province of Canada before finally settling in Ontario where she has now been living for a respectable number of years. Her husband and son are the two best people in the entire world, but they also make her wish she'd at least gotten a female cat. No such luck. And although the day job keeps her busy, she carves out as much time as possible to write. Bringing new characters to life and finding out what makes them tick and how badly she can make them suffer is one of her greatest pleasures, almost better than chocolate and fuzzy pink bunny slippers.

Get To Know Chloe...

If you could sing one song on The Voice, (or X-Factor or American Idol), what would it be and why?
Oh my God, the Voice. Did you know that I am addicted to that show? I hear songs on the radio and now judge them based upon whether or not they would be a good song for the show. In fact, I’ve already decided that if I were auditioning, I would have to sing Here by Alessia Cara. I love it, and it’s got a great mix of vocals to show off to the judges with. :D
Then again, George Ezra is just this awesome, deep-voiced powerhouse who kind of sneaks up on you, and if I could have his voice I would be set for LIFE. Blame it on Me would get every single chair to turn.

You're on a deserted island and uncover an ancient looking box. When you open it, a genie appears and tells you to make one wish. You can wish for anything--except more wishes or a way off the island. What do you ask for?
Wait, what? We’re not still on the Voice question? Ha, just kidding! :D Wishes are tricky things. If you’re not absolutely crystal clear in the voicing of them (see how I got one more “voice” word in there *giggle*) the wishes will almost always bite you in the ass. It’s that age-old adage, be careful what you wish for. Having said that… OF COURSE I WANT TO MAKE A WISH.
I’d totally wish for money. It sounds lame, but I have everything else that I need. As a family we’re happy and healthy and blessed. If there were a little extra money then maybe we could experience some more of the world, help our other family members, and relax a little bit. Then again, there’s something to be said for Lifetime Supply of Cheesecake.

Most embarrassing teen moment- that you're willing to admit publicly?
When I was in grade 9 I auditioned for the school production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. The good thing was that I got a part, and as Betty Parris, I got to open up the whole show…with a scream. A literal, spine-chilling, ear-splitting scream. I practiced the scream for weeks so that when the time came it would ring out clear and crisp and make everyone in the audience believe that I was possessed by the very devil…and I choked. As the curtain opened on that first night, I shot up in my bed on stage with the lights on me, and I was dressed in nothing but a prissy white nightgown and everyone was watching…waiting…And my scream was a squeak. *shaking head*

If you were to trade places with someone in a young adult novel, who would it be and why?
I’ve always been a huge fan of mysteries, the kind where the heroine is an amateur sleuth and gets into sticky situations because she can’t let any clue go unchased. I would be the modern Nancy Drew, hopefully with a cute sidekick computer whiz to keep me out of jail. :D

What's your go to writing snack? chocolate, potato chips, whiskey?
I’m a Twizzlers freak. When I’m in the writing cave, I can down a whole bag of those things in an afternoon. It’s a sickness. And combine that with the amount of coffee I consume on a daily basis…it’s a wonder I’m still alive.

Once upon a dark time…
Greta the human bounty hunter never quite fit into the shadowed, icy world of Mylena. Yet she's managed to defeat the demon Agramon and win the love of the darkly intense Goblin King, Isaac. Now Isaac wants her to rule by his side—a human queen. And the very announcement is enough to incite rebellion…
To make matters worse, defeating Agramon left Greta tainted with a dark magick. Its unclean power threatens to destroy her and everything she loves. With the Goblin King's life and the very peace of Mylena at stake, Greta must find a cure and fast.
Her only hope lies with the strange, elusive faeries in the Glass Kingdom…if she can get there before the evil within her destroys everything.
